Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • The originals should be sent as a Word document attachment to revista.redlatt@gmail.com.
  • Manuscripts must be preceded by a page with the following information: author's name, e-mail address, institutional affiliation, city and country.
  • Manuscripts must include the title, abstract and five key words in the three languages of the journal: Spanish, Portuguese and English.

Author Guidelines

Notes must be located at the foot of the page and duly numbered.

Bibliographical references should be included in the footnotes following the Chicago style.

- Books:

When the same book, article or book chapter is cited in several footnotes, a concise reference must be included from the second time: Surname, first three words of the title, page number(s).

Textual quotations of more than three lines are to be placed in a separate paragraph.

Names of archives should be given in full the first time they are cited. Abbreviations should not be separated by points. References to archival sources should be made as follows: File, branch or fund, section, series, volume (abbreviated), folder or file (abbreviated), document title and pages.

References to interviews and personal communications should be made as follows: Interviewee, Interviewer, date and place of interview

Articles

Articles will be subject to peer review through the double-blind system, preserving the anonymity of both authors and evaluators. In case of disagreement between the two reviewers, the text will be sent to a third evaluator.

The articles must be accompanied by an abstract, between 100 and 150 words, and 4 or 5 keywords. The abstract and keywords must be in English, Spanish and Portuguese. The abstract must clearly include the objectives of the article, the sources and the most relevant results.

The texts will have a maximum length of 13,000 words, including notes, tables, graphics and bibliographic references.

The illustrations (tables, graphs and maps) should be sent as JPG files with the maximum possible resolution (more than 200 dpi) indicating their references. They must have a sequence in Arabic numerals and must be accompanied by the title and source from which they were obtained. In the case of illustrations that do not belong to the author, the rights of use previously processed by the author must be delivered.

Debates and Interventions

This section includes original contributions, not necessarily based on primary sources, historiographic essays, interviews, responses to previously published interventions, etc. Their length may vary. Contributions to this section are evaluated by the Editorial Team. Those interested in sending a contribution for this section should first contact the Editorial Team.

Book Reviews

Revlatt welcomes reviews of books published within the last three years. Two types of manuscripts are expected: book reviews, assessing one or two books related to each other; or review-essays, analysing the interrelations between two or more books around a specific topic.

Manuscripts must present the complete reference of the book under review, according to the journal style. The name and institution of the author of the review must be included at the end of the text. Manuscripts must adhere to the same formal criteria as the rest of the journal.

Maximum length: 1500 words for reviews and 5000 words for review-essays. The journal will provide a list of books of specific editorial interest to be reviewed, please follow its recommendations for planning the review work.
